Names are being tossed up as to who all will figure in Rahul Gandhi’s political advisory committee. The Congress president is expected to form his political advisory panel of senior leaders after the Congress Working Committee election. The names under consideration are Sam Pitroda, Ahmed Patel, K Raju and Sheila Dikshit. It is believed that there will be no organisational changes until the AICC and the Congress Working Committee are reconstituted. Rahul Gandhi has only changed two women functionaries so far: in Delhi Sharmistha Mukherjee has been made Mahila Congress chief while Zaidami Tripura has been nominated for poll bound Tripura.
TEJASHWI PLANS ‘SYMPATHY’ RALLIES
Lalu Prasad’s son Tejashwi Yadav is busy finalising plans to organise rallies in all districts of Bihar to expose the BJP and RSS plot against his father. The idea is to build up public opinion that Lalu is innocent and a victim of BJP conspiracy. Tejashwi hopes the rallies will help in creating sympathy for the Bihar strongman, especially among the Yadavs and Muslims. The RJD move is said to enjoy the support of the Congress. The feeling in the opposition camps is that the BJP will soon take control of the Bihar Government by moving Nitish Kumar to the Centre. It could even happen before the Karnataka assembly elections.
GUJARAT PROXY WARS CONTINUING
Although the infighting in the Gujarat BJP seems to have settled down for the time being, with the deputy chief minister Nitinbhai Patel relenting and taking up office, the fight between the Baniyas supporting Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Amit Shah on one side and the Patels, including Anandiben Patel, who is backing the deputy chief minister, is refusing to die down. Both sides are losing no opportunity to slight each other. Observers could not miss the symbolism in placing Nitin Patel’s chair much lower to that of the chief minister at the first press conference after the oath taking ceremony.
VISHWAS SEEN PUSHING BJP GAME PLAN
There are increasing fears that AAP dissenter Kumar Vishwas may be playing into the hands of BJP to split the party on its behalf. Kumar is said to be talking to several AAP MLAs and party workers. Speculation in the political circles is that initially he will try to form a new party, which will ultimately merge with the BJP. They are expecting to see some desertions soon, but AAP sources are discounting such possibilities. (IPA)
