There is a new trend of retired IAS and IPS officials of Rajasthan taking to politics and making a successful career of it. With an eye on the post-retirement prospects, many senior officials are said to be trying to get into the good books of the Vasundhara Raje government by going out of their way to please it. And they include the district collectors, who will now be under the administrative charge of the chief electoral officer of the state. Following several complaints from Congress, Ashwini Bhagat was recently replaced by Anand Kumar as the new chief electoral officer. At present there are four former officers in politics, who are MPs from Rajasthan. Arjun Ram Meghwal and Chhotu Ram Chaudhary are presently ministers in the Modi Government. But in the present scenario most of the retired officers are said to be queuing up for Congress tickets. This probably indicates which way they expect the wind to be blowing in Rajasthan.

He has taken up a three month teaching assignment at IIM-A from this month onwards. MAMATA DISCOVERS POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee does not want to be left behind in harnessing social media to fortify her position. She has made her nephew MP Abhishek Banerjee the head of the IT cell and ordered Rajya Sabha member Derek O’Brien to assist Abhishek in matters of social media. Mamata Banerjee has appealed to youths to use social media to propagate the achievements of her government. Mamata has set her eyes on winning all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the coming Lok Sabha election, up from 34 seats in the current Lok Sabha, two seats going to BJP, which is also strengthening its social media footprint in West Bengal. Party president Amit Shah has given party workers a target to win at least 22 seats in West Bengal.
NITISH BID TO LURE BACK OLD ALLIES
As the Lok Sabha election comes closer, Nitish Kumar is desperate to bring back former allies and friends who were with him in his campaign for social justice. He is trying to establish good relations with Ram Villas Paswan and Upendra Kushwa. The Bihar chief minister is expected to announce some social justice initiatives which he hopes will help in bringing old allies back. These will probably focus on youth.
MESSAGE IN RAHUL’S KAILASH YATRA
Those who were of the opinion that Rahul Gandhi made a blunder by going on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in the middle of election season may take a second look at their position. There is increasing feeling that it was a well thought out message from the Gandhi family to the public, who may have entertained doubts about the spiritual and religious moorings of the family. Even the release of the photographs was in a manner to catch maximum eyeballs. Rahul’s selfies and group photos gave a good account of nature and Kailash.
