NEW DELHI: The erstwhile NDA English School has been upgraded to an ARMY Public School, while Tiny Tots School has also been upgraded to NDA Army Pre-Primary School. Both the schools will function under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), which is at present running 123 Army Schools/Army Public Schools and 13 Army Professional Schools across India.
About 1.5 lakh children are studying in these educational institutions and up to 7,000 students are added every year.
The formal inauguration of the NDA Army Public School was done on Wednesday by Lt Gen Jatinder Singh, Commandant, NDA in the presence of Major General (Retd) BS Daulta, managing director, AWES and Colonel A Dutta, director, Schools.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commandant said, “The Army School takes pride in imparting quality education and nurturing national values. He said the schools have been started to ensure and provide affordable and quality education to children of the staff and employees within the NDA premises. The only thing that is constant in life is change and the best way to manage change, whether positive or negative, is to anticipate it and be prepared for it. There is no greater form of preparation for change than education and there is no better investment that the individual, parents, and the nation can make than an investment in education of the highest quality.”
In the first year of its inception, the NDA Army Public School shall have classes from class I to VI. Subsequently one higher class will be added each year till it becomes a full fledged Army Public School till class XII. The NDA Army Pre-Primary School shall cater to the Nursery, LKG and UKG classes.
The aim of the NDA Army Pre-Public School would be the implementation of Early Childhood Education programme, promotion of inclusive education, assist in cognitive development of the children and smooth and seamless transition from UKG to formal schooling.
