The Defence Minister Shri AK Antony will inaugurate the 36th DRDO Directors’ Conference here tomorrow. The theme of this year’s conference is “Self-Reliance Strategy in Globalised World”. DRDO’s top brass including Directors of Laboratories, Programme Directors, Corporate and Technical Directors of DRDO Headquarters and Chief Controllers will deliberate on various issues during the three-day event.
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, Shri Satpal Maharaj, National Security Advisor Shri Shivshankar Menon, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Verma and Defence Secretary Shri Shashikant Sharma will attend the inaugural session. There will be seven technical sessions spread over the next two days covering a wide range of topics including the Emerging Security Scenario, Technology Innovation and Strategies for Technology Development.
The highlight of this year’s conference will be the roundtable discussion chaired by the Minister of State for Defence Dr. MM Pallam Raju on “Strategies for Accelerated Deployment-R&D, Production & Induction” that will bring together representatives from the three Services, Ordnance Factories, Defence PSUs and DRDO top management. Scholars affiliated to frontline institutes fromIndiaand abroad are slated to deliver invited talks.
The Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, Secretary, Deptt of Defence R&D and DG DRDO, Dr. VK Saraswat will felicitate selected DRDO Young Scientists and Best Performers from the technical and administrative cadres at an Awards function on Tuesday. The three-day annual conference will conclude on Wednesday.
