Akhilesh Yadav Banking On Youth For 2024 Lok Sabha Polls In Uttar Pradesh

By Pradeep Kapoor

Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and national President Akhilesh Yadav have given call to party leaders and workers to prepare for 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Significantly Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav visited Mainpuri and other places to interact with party leaders and workers and appealed them to strengthen the party at grass-root.

Mulayam Singh Yadav expressed his satisfaction on the performance of youth workers in the elections. He asked for the phone numbers of youth workers who helped in the campaign. Veteran leader assured that he would personally get in touch with youth leaders and workers on phone. Mulayam Singh Yadav repeatedly said that with the presence of large scale young workers, the party would never become old.

Akhilesh Yadav is busy with meeting with party leaders workers of different parts of state. He is also conducting review meetings with leaders to identifying the reasons of defeat in different constituencies. Akhilesh Yadav is not willing to give 100 days to Yogi Government and is very critical of the performance of the government especially on law and order front. Akhilesh Yadav reacts to each and every incident of crime and misgovernance.

Akhilesh Yadav’s decision to become Leader of the opposition has boosted the moral of party leaders and workers. Party leaders also want Akhilesh to lead strong opposition with 111 MLAs of Samajwadi Party and 14 MLAs from coalition partners.

Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav have been telling party workers that the party gained in numbers of seats from 46 to 111 in 2022 assembly polls and vote share also went up from 20 per cent to 32 per cent.

Two veteran leaders of Samajwadi Party Shivpal Yadav and Mohd Azam Khan are upset with Akhilesh Yadav ever since he decided to become Leader of the Opposition. Both of them were very keen to become Leader of Opposition hoping that Akhilesh Yadav would opt to remain as MP. Shivpal Singh Yadav and Mohd Azam Khan thought in the absence of Akhilesh Yadav they would play important role in state politics.

First Shivpal Singh Yadav made the issue of no invitation to him to attend the meeting of SP legislative Party. Then he surprised everybody by meeting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This meeting sent the message in political circle that Shivpal Singh Yadav would join hands with saffron brigade to humiliate Akhilesh Yadav.

Meanwhile the media spokesman of Mohd Azam Khan also dropped the bomb by the statement that Mohd Azam Khan, who is in Sitapur Jail in connection with 80 FIR lodged against him regarding his Mohd Ali Johar University in Rampur, was ignored by Akhilesh Yadav. He claimed that Azam Khan was instrumental in helping Samajwadi Party to come to power on various occasions.

Shivpal Yadav added more fuel by his meeting with Mohd Azam Khan in Sitapur Jail and blamed Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav for not taking up the issue in Lok Sabha. Shivpal Singh Yadav said that had Mulayam or Akhilesh taken up the case at appropriate forum Mohd Azam Khan would have been released.

Taking serious note of his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav becoming close to saffron brigade, Akhilesh Yadav warned that if any SP Leader is  found to be with BJP would no longer be allowed to remain in the party.

Reacting to this warning Shivpal Singh Yadav also challenged his nephew to expel him from Samajwadi Party Legislative  group It may be mentioned here Shivpal Singh Yadav has his own party but he contested Jaswantnagar Assembly constituency on Samajwadi Party ticket.

Significantly Shivpal Singh Yadav and Mohd Azam Khan had opposed the move to install Akhilesh Yadav as chief minister way back in 2012 by Mulayam Singh Yadav who had tough time in persuading these two leaders to accept young scion of the family as head of the government.

Although Akhilesh Yadav became chief minister but he had tough time in dealing with these two leaders during his regime. Both were very independent functioned as separate power centres. Samajwadi Party national President has the support from coalition partners RLD, Mahan Dal and Suheldev Bhartiye Samaj Party. They have announced to contest Lok Sabha polls with Samajwadi Party.
