The Karnataka Congress has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of leveraging central agencies to destabilize the state government over the alleged Valmiki Corporation scam. This scandal, which involves illegal money transfers amounting to Rs 187 crore, has sparked intense political confrontation. BJP leaders have demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, alleging corruption within the Congress-led administration.
The controversy escalated following the suicide of Chandrasekharan P, a government official who reportedly faced pressure to authorize unlawful transactions. His death note implicated various figures and highlighted the misuse of funds intended for the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation.
BJP protests have intensified, with leaders calling the scam evidence of anti-Dalit policies by the Congress. The BJP is pressing for a CBI investigation, criticizing the state government’s handling of the case. Karnataka Congress leaders, however, have vowed to contest these claims legally, asserting that the BJP’s accusations are part of a strategy to unseat the current government.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has already arrested Karnataka Minister B Nagendra in connection with the scam, further fueling BJP’s demands for a thorough investigation and accountability from the Congress government. Amidst these allegations, the political climate in Karnataka remains highly charged, with both parties preparing for a prolonged legal and political battle.
