Thiruvananthapuram: People with a sadist mindset who want to halt Kerala’s progress are behind the move against KIIFB, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.
He was speaking at Chancelllor’s Award distribution ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.
Vijayan reaffirmed that all the projects conceived and implemented for the progress of the state would be taken forward without any halt.
“Whatever projects we have begun with development in mind will be completed regardless of the move from different quarters to sabotage them. Efforts are on to do away with KIIFB and defame it. Kerala has limited resources but that should not come in the way of enhancing the state’s infrastructure including that of education sector. If the financial restrictions limit the progress of sectors like education, that will harm the upcoming generations,” the chief minister said.
Only with the funds allocated through the budget Kerala could not implement all the developmental projects. Keeping that in mind, the state sought different options to get finance for projects. The Public Education sector was strengthened by judiciously making use of KIIFB and it has brought results. Schools were provided for kids in their localities and higher education was made available to more students. Upholding the renaissance values Kerala has implemented universal education, Pinarayi Vijayan said.
“That is how Kerala has come to the forefront in the education sector. Children hailing from financially backward families have been provided opportunities in Kerala to choose their desired course and it helps them to come forward in life. The earlier concept was to make money by running educational institutions. It adversely affected the education sector in the state. It was in these circumstances, the previous LDF government took the decision to rejuvenate the education sector and now we can feel proud about it,” CM added.
He further said that the same goals need to be achieved in the Higher Education sector as well and keeping that in mind the state was focusing on this sector. “The strength of Higher Education institutions is in their reputation. Excellent faculties, infrastructure, hostels and libraries are essential for bettering higher education and the state is striving to achieve it,” he said.
