LUCKNOW: The Kanika Kapoor episode has exposed the poor preparations of central as well state government to deal with deadly corona virus Covid 19.
There is a serious question to be answered as to how the Bollywood singer was not sent for 15 days isolation when she arrived at Mumbai airport on March 9.
Again at Lucknow airport, if she was found to be corona positive, as claimed by the authorities in FIR lodged against her, then why did they let her go and there was no follow up.
Kanika, however, denied that she was diagnosed corona positive at the airport and she developed symptoms later on and had a tough time in getting the test done. It was only after the programmes she attended it was confirmed that she was corona virus positive.
At a time when entire world is fighting with corona virus through lockdown and other restrictions, the state government will have to explain what is the justification in allowing big parties in state capital.
The callous attitude of the state machinery is evident that cabinet ministers, including state health minister Jai Pratap Singh, former Rajasthan chief minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje Scindia and her son Dushyant Singh MP and senior politicians and bureaucrats attended the big parties where Kanika Kapoor was the star attraction.
Instead of issuing an advisory against big parties how the state health minister himself participated in such big birthday bash speaks for the casual attitude his own ministry towards the crisis.
Instead of advising people to remain indoors the political parties, whether ruling or opposition, were seen busy holding big functions with the participation of media and party workers.
With poor health infrastructure and huge population it would be very difficult for the government to deal with corona virus unless the lockdown is successfully implemented.
There have been complaints that it was very difficult to get a test done as the helplines were not responding to calls. (IPA Service)
