Maharashtra’s political landscape has been jolted by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s assertion that a senior leader from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena clandestinely approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking support and relief from legal cases.
During a Legislative Council session, Shinde alleged that this unnamed Shiv Sena leader sought to rejoin the ruling Mahayuti coalition. He accused the Thackeray faction of forsaking Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideals for political gain, stating, “They have abandoned the principles of Balasaheb Thackeray for political power.”
Shinde further claimed that Uddhav Thackeray had previously met with Prime Minister Modi in Delhi, expressing a desire to form a coalition government. However, upon returning to Mumbai, Thackeray purportedly reneged on this intention.
