Do or Die situation for the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the coming West Bengal assembly elections, Firstly if she wins third time, she may expand her party base outside Bengal and become the face of opposition candidate for the Lok Sabha election in 2024 and will form anti BJP Mahaghatbandhan. Regional parties and leaders like NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal may support her candidature for Prime Minister against Narendra Modi. Secondly if she loses the assembly polls, her ambition to become PM will fade and her party base will continue to be limited to West Bengal. The result of coming West Bengal assembly election will play a important role in the next Lok Sabha election.
PRIYANKA GANDHI VADRA IS MOST PRO-ACTIVE NOW IN CONGRESS HIGH COMMAND
The Congress on December 28 celebrated its 136th Foundation Day at its headquarters in Delhi even though party president Sonia Gandhi and former party Chief Rahul Gandhi gave the event a miss. Senior leader A K Antony unfurled the flag at the AICC headquarters in the presence of senior leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. There was another scene at the Congress office which grabbed attention. It was Priyanka Gandhi Vadra hobnobbing with party leaders, senior and old, and also with the karyakartas. She dodged the question on Rahul Gandhi’s absence but was aggressive in her attack on the government over the farm laws. This is not the first time that Priyanka Gandhi has stepped in when her brother was away or even when he was engaged in fierce battles with the BJP, whether it was the Rajasthan crisis, where she bought peace thanks to her personal equation with Sachin Pilot, to the Hathras rape case, where she took on the Adityanath government. She also disagreed with those who felt the letter writers should be sidelined. The crisis has been temporarily defused and the rebels came out after an amicable meeting at 10 Janpath, where interestingly, Priyanka Gandhi was present and it seems as she is playing the role of Ahmed Patel in the party.
NITISH KUMAR IS SULKING AS BJP LEADERS ARE NOT LISTENING TO HIM
When six MLAs in Arunachal Pradesh quit the JD(U) and joined the BJP, Nitish Kumar had restructured the party and made Ram Chandra Prasad (RCP) Singh a National President of the party. He also resisted RLSP Chief Upendra Kushwaha’s attempts to return to the party as number two. Now even if Kushwaha rejoins JD(U), the hierarchy is clear and he will have to report to a new national president .. According to JD(U) inner sources, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is annoyed with the way farm bills have been passed through a voice vote on September 20 in the Rajya Sabha and also not happy with Rajya Sabha deputy chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh’s refusal to conduct a division of votes and the subsequent chaos that followed while passing The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 on September 20. According to political observers Nitish is not happy the way BJP is treated him. He might thin of other options if BJP does not mend ways.
HARYANA GOVERNOR REFUSING TO CONVENE ASSEMBLY SESSION TO HELP BJP
After the seven out of 10 JJP MLAs have supported the farmers protest openly, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is hoping that BJP’s government will fall on its own. Dushyant Chautala’s unilateral style and tough talk have alienated his MLAs and he thinks they could leave regardless of whether they join Hooda or not. Dushyant however does not want to surrender the perks of office After all his family spent 16 years in the wilderness. Even grandfather Om Prakash and father Ajay have benefited from his stint in power, securing long paroles. Now Dushyant is banking on the Governor not calling an early assembly session for a no-confidence vote. While the Congress wants a special session of Haryana assembly to bring in a no-confidence motion against the BJP-JJP alliance government Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya is not giving the time to meet former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Hooda told the media after a Congress legislature Party meeting that farmers have been agitating for 36 days on Delhi border and in parts of the state and 42 protesters have died so far. “On 7th December, we wrote to the Governor urging him to summon a special session of Assembly but he has not accepted that demand till date.” “The Governor has refused to meet Congress MLAs without assigning any reason.”
