In a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Wednesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee demanded that the decision to extend BSF’s jurisdiction in the state be withdrawn but the real game plan of Mamata is to unite the opposition parties and alienate Congress in the fight against the BJP in UP election and dislodging Modi-Shah duo from the centre. Asked about her interaction with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Banerjee said “Why should we meet Sonia every time? It is not constitutionally mandated”. Mamata Banerjee has suggested to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to make an alliance with Samajwadi party to fight against BJP in UP. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has met SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav. Sanjay Singh told that the two leaders held strategic discussions on common issues of Uttar Pradesh in a bid to get rid of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. He hinted that the two parties are heading towards the alliance. On the other hand Mamata Banerjee said she was ready to extend help to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for next year’s Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, if required. The TMC has identified Meghalaya, Tripura, Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Goa to make inroads and inducted 12 Congress MLAs in Meghalaya, Congress leader Kirti Azad, former Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar, and former JD(U) MP Pavan Varma as part of its push to register a national presence. The political buzz around the formation of a third front is back. While talk of a third front has been recurrent, the key difference this time is that Mamata Banerjee, one of the experienced leaders in Indian politics, is being seen as playing a big role. Mamata Banerjee will be visiting Maharashtra next month on December 1 where she will meet NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to discuss a possible alliance between opposition parties . Meanwhile the Congress has attacked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for inviting PM Modi to inaugurate Bengal’s Global Business summit to be held next April. Hitting back, TMC MP Sougata Ray said we don’t need the lesson from Congress and CPI(M) on how to oppose the BJP and it’s policies.

He tweeted saying if there is a government, the suffering of people should be removed and compensation should be given. Gandhi also tweeted a video attacking the “Gujarat model”, which the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has projected as the benchmark for other states. “When you had to help them in hospitals, you were not there, and when they lost 10-15 lakh in hospitals and also their family members, you were still not there to provide compensation. What type of government is this?” he asked..
AIMIM PRESIDENT OWAISI DISAPPOINTED WITH HIS RALLIES IN POLL EVE UTTAR PRADESH
After Bihar election, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi shifted the emphasis to Uttar Pradesh with the confidence that his party will make an alliance with BSP ahead of 2022 UP assembly elections and will stop Samajwadi party to form the government in Uttar Pradesh as his party stopped RJD in forming the government in Bihar by winning five crucial seats in the Muslim dominated Seemanchal region of North Bihar, securing 1.24 per cent of total votes polled, and denting the Mahagatbandhan in Bihar. Of these five, two were won by the Congress and one by the RJD in 2015, But BSP is not eager to make an alliance with AIMIM. Owaisi has organised many rallies in Muslim dominated areas but failed to attract a large number of Muslim population in his rallies. Then he attempted to make an alliance with Azad Samaj Party and Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohiya ) but it seems that Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan and Shivpal Singh Yadav desire to join hands with Akhilesh Yadav. As a result, AIMIM will not fight many seats as planned earlier Owaisi claimed that his party will fight 100 seats in the state.
SAMAJWADI PARTY IS ON AN ALLIANCE STITCHING SPREE ON THE EVE OF U.P. POLLS
In another development ahead of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday announced that if voted to power in the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, his party will give a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to the farmers who have lost their lives during the protests against the Centre’s three farm laws. Samajwadi Party is swiftly planning to stitch an alliance with other smaller regional parties to make a comeback in the state after five years. SP has finalised a pre-poll alliance with Jayant Singh Chaudhary-led Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). SP looks to capitalise on the farmers’ protest and their anger against the BJP government. On Wednesday Akhilesh Yadav held talks with AAP leader Sanjay Singh and Apna Dal (K) chief Krishna Patel in the run-up to the 2022 assembly polls. After the separate meetings, Patel said a tie-up with the SP has been finalised while Singh indicated that the talks have begun. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the two leaders held strategic discussions on common issues of Uttar Pradesh in a bid to get rid of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. He hinted that the two parties are heading towards the alliance and according to sources SP may offer 10 seats to AAP in Western Belt of UP. Western UP has about 100 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. In the 2017 election, the BJP won 76 of the 100 seats. However, this time, experts believe that the farmers’ anger against the central and state governments will result in loss of seats for the BJP in the area.
CONGRESS GETS A MAJOR JOLT IN NORTH EAST DUE TO HIGH COMMAND’S LAPSES
In a major development in the northeastern state, 12 Congress MLAs in Meghalaya joined Trinamool Congress on Thursday. This includes former chief minister Mukul Sangma and 11 other MLAs. Congress had 17 MLAs in the 60-member assembly and Sangma, a five-time MLA, is currently the leader of the opposition. Of the 12 Congress legislators who joined the Trinamool, eight MLAs are from Garo Hills, while four lawmakers are from Khasi Jaintia hills. Before joining the Trinamool Congress, Sangma had gone to Kolkata to meet election strategist Prashant Kishor. Sangma said “There has to be equilibrium in democracy. We need an effective opposition. We have raised this to the leadership in Delhi. We have made many trips to Delhi, but nothing happened.” The breakaway group has submitted a list of MLAs crossing over to the TMC to state Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh and informed him about their decision. The rift in Meghalaya Congress came to the fore after Vincent Pala’s appointment as the president of the party’s state unit. Expressing discontent Mukul Sangma claimed that he was not consulted by the Congress high command regarding Pala’s appointment. In October, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and senior leader Rahul Gandhi met Sangma in Delhi in a bid to placate him. Sangma got involved in the party’s activities – campaigning for the bye-polls held in Meghalaya in October and meeting the Congress Meghalaya in-charge Manish Chatrath, general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal and Pala on November 18 but no efforts was made by the Congress high command to pacify the MLAs and especially Sangma as they were deeply annoyed with the State incharge Manish Chatrath after the appointment of state president against the wishes of Sangma.
