If people haven’t noticed, India has become a country of the ruthless and the heartless. There is no milk of human kindness in the Indian of present times. Cutting off river-waters to a thirsty Pakistan is just another day in the office for Indians, a walk in the cool breeze of an apple grove!
Hell, do Indians even have a heart? Stop the Sindhu and Pakistan will dry up. Think of baby Pakistanis, their pitiful mothers and their hapless fathers. Indus is the “lifeline” for Pakistan, but Indians are hardly bothered.
Pakistanis take pride in being the ‘Indus people’, distinguishing Pakistan from the ‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb’. If Pakistan is ‘Roohafza’, there cannot be Roohafza without Indus water. Pakistan is terrified India will stop the ‘Sindhu’, Jhelum and Chenab. Pakistanis are calling it “water terrorism”.
Soon to be thirsty Pakistanis are talking of lower and upper riparian politics. Suppose China stops the Brahmaputra! Imagine Himanta Biswa Sarma spouting at the mouth. Will China punish India for Pakistan? Give Pakistanis reason to smile? China is Pakistan’s all-weather friend, why isn’t China wringing India’s Chicken Neck?
The Chinese only want to get their drones and jet-fighters tested by Pakistanis? Pakistan will have to make “unilateral moves”. Keeping the Indus Water Treaty “in abeyance” is an “act of war” and India is behaving as if war is routine.
India decimated terrorist hubs in Pakistan. India pitted craters in 9-12 Pakistani air bases. India announced a “new normal” against terror attacks and India nearly set off a nuclear radiation leak. India is testing Pakistani patience.
The “ticking water bomb” cannot be left to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has to be defused. But for that, Pakistan has to realize that “terror and talks” cannot go together and water and blood cannot flow together. There has to be a degree of sensitivity when discussing the Indus Water Treaty.
How would Atal Bihari Vajpayee have reacted to Pahalgam? Would Vajpayee have put the Indus Water Treaty “in abeyance”? Vajpayee was a Congressman’s dream BJP leader. Modi doesn’t fit that bill. Pakistan says India would “not be allowed to suspend or amend” the Indus Water Treaty.
Can Pakistan bomb Indian dams on the Indus and other rivers? Should Pakistan take Modi’s threats seriously? India has left no space for Pakistan to manoeuvre. Pakistan can’t get away with lies.
Pakistan’s senators and Shehbaz Sharif’s ministers are talking of “Indus water and unilateral war.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi sounds like he is primed to blow-up at the slightest provocation. And Pakistan cannot match the military hardware and software that the Indian Armed Forces can marshal and field at a moment’s notice.
Without the nuclear bluff, there is no threat. And India is heartless, without a drop of the milk of human kindness. Munir should give in writing that Pakistan abjures terror. India has already suspended the Indus Water Treaty. It wants the treaty amended.
Also, India doesn’t take Pakistan’s “act of war” warning seriously, nor Pakistan’s rant of “water terrorism”.
Modi’s India says if stopping Indus waters is a “war thrust on Pakistan”, so be it. India is not a country of bleeding hearts and snowflakes anymore. Pakistan’s threat that it would take action in self-defence including wage war is water off a duck’s back.
“If India stops a drop of our water, the (international) law, UN resolutions and international conventions say that Pakistan can destroy the structure through missiles, planes and soldiers,” a Pakistani “senator” warned. A disingenuous suggestion doing the rounds in Pakistan is not to even “talk about the Indus Water Treaty with India”, thus ensuring that the treaty remains intact!
“It is a treaty and can only be changed with both parties’ consent. Otherwise, it stands as it is,” said the Senator. Somebody please tell this Pakistani it is a treaty and not ‘nikah’ we’re talking of. (IPA Service)
