United States President Donald Trump has doubled down on his ‘Gaza Plan’, which the United Nations says is ‘unlawful’. Trump’s ‘Gaza Plan’ is ‘loco’, said somebody else, without asking if Trump has a ‘motive’ to go with the ‘loco’, a movable plan? For one thing, the USA is not a banana republic. Even Russia will balk at challenging the United States. China might resort to bluster.
The fact remains the United States is a whole different ball game. And President Donald Trump is not President Joe Biden and we’re not talking of cognitive imbalance. We’re talking ‘motive’; about Trump’s plan to turn Gaza into a ‘Rivera’, thinking which requires the brain to be wired differently.
President Trump fits the plan. WE are getting to see @realdonaldtrump only now, in Trump’s second term. So, okay, Trump wants Palestinians displaced from Gaza. Maybe not “permanently”, but for long enough time to refashion the ‘Gaza Strip’ into a ‘Beirut’, the motive strengthened by the fact that the Beirut of the past isn’t the Beirut of today and if any group of people deserve a ‘Beirut’ of their own, it is the Palestinians.
Stop saying Trump is behaving like a New York property developer. By that token every world leader from now to a thousands of years before were all real-estate developers. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be London, New York or ‘Delhi’. World leaders have to be real-estate developers to visualize Las Vegas in the desert.
There are reports that the Ruler of UAE’s Ras Al-Khaimah emirate is “building a Casino!” If that isn’t vision, take a detour to wherever there is scarcity of ideas. For today’s and even yesterday’s world, the only constant were ideas. President Donald Trump has an idea and he voiced it because he can voice it and run with it, as well.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi floated the idea of a “100 Smart Cities”, one of them his own parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. Eleven years on and we have to search with a high-powered lens: Where are Modi’s smart cities? There is a paradigm difference between Trump and Modi — one is the most powerful man on the planet, the other is trying to be the most powerful man on the subcontinent!
Trump’s plan to transform Gaza into the ‘Riviera of the Middle East’ is not proof that Trump is not over the hill. Trump wouldn’t be wandering off-stage. Trump, “the longtime New York property developer” is right now the ‘awe’ of the world, the Middle East in particular.
More than 61,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza by Israel’s war machine, why shouldn’t President Donald Trump have a plan of turning Gaza into the Riviera of the Middle East’? Trump is not dreaming, he is planning. And there is a big difference. Nothing is impossible — not when there is a determined United States with a determined President with a workable plan to boot.
Anybody with even a little bit of concern for Gaza’s children would be arguing for the success of Trump’s plan for Gaza. There are lots of people with a perverse axe to grind. People who want to keep the pot boiling; watch the Palestine issue consume the region.
The Gazans are searching the debris for dead bodies. Trump isn’t planning to build a mountain of skulls. The “resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza” is desirable. Those against it haven’t any to offer. The United States will “take control” of Gaza after the “war is over and Israel leaves”. What’s so difficult, and preposterous, about it?
Don’t Gazans deserve to live in a “far safer and more beautiful” space? The United Nations can denounce as much as it can. The UN’s “strictly prohibited” verdict is rubble and dirt. President Trump’s “obsession with Gaza” is about moving the pieces on the chessboard. It is not about “castling the process” of bringing about a lasting change for the Palestinians.
The fact that there are people who are asking “what’s behind Trump’s call to take over Gaza?” is proof that Trump has helped initiate a much-needed debate on the future of Gaza and Palestine. Gazans need a break from war. And if anybody can make the Israelis bend, accept a plan other than those which Israeli generals cook up, it is the United States and a US President in the mould of President Donald Trump!
President Trump’s “obsession with Gaza” is a beautiful thing. “They would actually have a chance to be happy, safe, and free. The US, working with great development teams from all over the World, would slowly and carefully begin the construction of what would become one of the greatest and most spectacular developments of its kind on Earth,” Trump said on ‘Truth Social’. “No soldiers from the US would be needed! Stability for the region would reign!!!”
Israeli Defence Minister ‘Israel Katz’ said he has ordered the Israeli military to draw up a plan to allow Gaza residents to leave the Gaza Strip “if they wished to do so.” The question now is, “Will Gaza residents accept Trump’s plan — what Katz calls “Trump’s bold initiative” — and support long-term reconstruction efforts in a demilitarized, threat-free Gaza?”
Let’s just say “resistance is building” with some saying Trump’s gone bananas, others chipping in with snatches of “conversations with Gazans” who think Trump is butting into a “1000 year old war.” It is an unforgiving bunch of people up against another set of unforgiving bunch of people and everybody else on the planet going “loco” on weeds!
But Trump is not taking ‘No’ for an answer. “The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it, too. We’ll own it,” Trump said with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his side. The two-states solution died right there and then. “It’s not a livable place for any human being,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt left nothing to the imagination. Only Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke of an option: “People can move back into Gaza after reconstruction.” (IPA Service)
