As Delhi approaches its assembly elections on February 5, the political landscape is witnessing significant shifts. Prominent figures such as Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee have declared their support for Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party , while the Bharatiya Janata Party raises concerns over these emerging alliances.
Akhilesh Yadav, leader of the Samajwadi Party, announced his endorsement of AAP during a recent event in Delhi. He emphasized that, in line with the INDIA bloc’s strategy, regional parties with substantial influence should receive backing in their respective strongholds. Yadav stated, “AAP is strong in Delhi, and Samajwadi Party has decided to give support to the AAP. The regional party fighting against the BJP should be supported by the leaders of the INDIA alliance.”
Similarly, Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress , has extended her support to Kejriwal. In response, Kejriwal expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am personally grateful to Mamata Didi. Thank you, Didi. You have always supported and blessed us in our good and bad times.”
These endorsements have elicited reactions from various political entities. The BJP has voiced apprehensions regarding the alliances forming against it. Additionally, tensions within the opposition coalition have surfaced, particularly between AAP and the Congress party. Kejriwal has accused the Congress of collaborating with the BJP to undermine AAP’s prospects in the upcoming elections. He remarked, “People also believed that BJP and Congress are fighting the elections together against AAP.”
