CHANDIGARH: To awaken and mobilise the people against the real danger to indian democracy; secular fabric, composite culture, constitution and constitutional institutions like judiciary, election commission, even the RBI, the Punjab units of CPI and CPI(M) have organised Joint Jatha March in almost all the districts an main rural and urban centres of the state from of November 15 to of November 21 as part of state wide campaign to culminate in State Political Rally on January 28 2019.
Both the parties had organised a Joint Convention on July 30 in Jalandhar which had given call for Joint Jatha Marches, Joint District meetings culminating in state rally at Ludhiana in second week of December, but because of Panchayat elections expected to be held during these days, the Rally date has been shifted to January 28.
The whole Punjab was to be covered by two separate Jathas, one starting from Martyrs memorial of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru at Hussainiwal border where the three martyrs after being hanged to death in Lahore were brought and cremated. It was led and addressed by CPI National Council members Hardev Singh Arshi, Jagrup Singh, Jagjit Singh Joga and CPI(M) State secretary Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon and Kulwinder Singh Uddat.
They said that under BJP led central government, even the right to live is threatened, freedom of expression is denied, intellectuals are killed for their dissenting views, history is being distorted, corruption has reached to PMO office with Rafale Deal. To save the democratic, secular country it is a must to oust BJP from power. The message will be taken to whole of Punjab. The gathering was also addressed by Kashmir Singh Firozpur, Hans Raj Golden, Surinder Dhandian.
This Jatha travelled Faridkot, Mogaa, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Ropar and Ludhiana Districts. On the way it was joined by CPI state executive leaders and district secretaries and CPI(M) leaders. Kuldip Bhola, Pawanpreet, Harlabh Singh, Narinder Sohal, Surjit Sohi, Balkaran Brar, Krishan Chauhan, Sukhdev Sharma, Baldev Nihalgarh, Kulwant Maulviwala, Kashmir Singh Gadaya, Devi Dayal Sharma, Mohinderpal, Balwinder Singh, Kushal Bhaura and Gurnam Kanwar. The concluding program was at Ludhiana led and addressed by Hardev Arshi, Sukhwinder Sekhon, D.P.Maur, Dr. Arun Mitra, Ramesh Rattan, Gulzar Goria, Bhup Chand Channo and many other leaders.
The second Jatha started from national freedom monument Jallianwal Bagh Amritsar. It was led and addressed by CPI state secretary Bant Singh Brar, Dr. JoginderDayal, Bhupinder Samber, Pirthipal Marhimega and CPI(M) state leaders Lehmbar Singh Taggar and Raghunath Singh. The Jatha covered the districts of Majha and Doaba such as Amritsar, Tarntaran, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawan Shahar, Kapurthala and lastly the Jalandhar. The leaders included Harbhajan Singh, Amarjit Asal, Lakhbir Singh Nijampura, Daswinder Kaur, Narinder Pali, Sucha Singh Ajnala, Tara Singh Khaira, Rajinderpal Kaur, Gulzar Singh, Satyadev Saini, Balram Mallpur, Sutantar Kumar and others.
They said BJP forgets all promises made to people but on the eve of elections raises the Ram Temple issue and similarly the Akali Dal starts manufacturing the danger to Panth. They condemned the Referendum demand being raised from abroad, demanded punishment to sacrilege culprits and loans of peasants and khet mazdoors be written off. Further, Drug abuse be curbed. Employment or Employment allowance be given. Rafale deal be probed by Joint Parliamentary Committee and Punjab be given special one lac crore rupees economic package.
Though these week-long marches in whole of Punjab have been concluded successfully, the mobilisation will go on for 28th January state Rally at Ludhiana. Bant Singh Brar, state secretary of CPI expressed satisfaction at the success of Jatha Marches and thanked the state and district leaders and party workers for their active participation. He called upon to work more forcefully to accomplish the great task of ousting BJP with broad unity. (IPA Service)
