As the Bihar Assembly elections are coming closer, the alliances are moving fast and small parties are changing their alliance partner day by day. Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party Hindustani Awam Morcha was with the BJP in the last election. Later he left the NDA and recently he joined hands with Nitish Kumar’s JD(U). On Wednesday Manjhi again praised Ram Villas Paswan and claimed that Chirag Paswan is a child of family and Ram Villas Paswan is a big leader of Dalits in Bihar. The visit of BJP President JP Nadda in Patna has given strength to JD(U) and Nadda’s declaration that assembly election will be fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, has given a boost to the morals of leaders and workers of JD(U),.but the announcement of Chirag Paswan that his party will fight on 143 seats inspite the declaration of Nitish Kumar that LJP has alliance with BJP not with JD(U). According to political observers Nadda has promised 23 seats to LJP but Chirag wants that BJP should fight on more seats than JD(U) so that the next government will be formed under the chief ministership of BJP. At the same time Chirag has declared that their alliance will get votes on the name of Narendra Modi and not on the name of Nitish Kumar.
PRIYANKA GANDHI TO CAMPAIGN IN MADHYA PRADESH BY-ELECTIONS TO BOOST CONGRESS SUPPORTERS
Ahead of the by-elections in Madhya Pradesh, AICC general secretary in-charge of UP, Priyanka Gandhi, will campaign in the state. Earlier, top leaders in the party had asked the former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot to campaign in the Gwalior-Chambal region against his old friend Jyotiraditya Scindia. Former Public Relations Minister of the state, PC Sharma, on Wednesday said that Priyanka is expected to visit Ma Pitambara Peeth, a temple in MP’s Datiya district. It is obvious that she will be meeting the public and locals in nearby districts including Datiya, Bhind, Morena and Gwalior. According to sources, Priyanka is expected to campaign in at least six seats in the region which have big influence of Scindia.
DUSHYANT CHAUTALA IS UNDER PRESSURE FROM PARTY MEMBERS TO LEAVE HARYANA GOVT OVER FARM BILLS
The farmers agitation in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh has compelled Harsimrat Kaur Badal to resign from the cabinet and the second person who is in the trouble is Deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala in Haryana. In Haryana BJP government is in the alliance with JJP. JJP has 10 MLAs and local kisan and JJP workers, leaders, opposition parties and his family members are pressurizing Dushyant Chautala to resign from the state government. Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has approached JJP MLAs. MLA Devendra Singh Babli from Tohana, Ram Kumar Gautam from Narnaund and Ram Niwas from Narwana officially met the chief minister and Babli attacked Dushyant Chautala and blamed Dushyant that when JJP has supported BJP, he promised that there will be four ministers in BJP government but Dushyant himself took oath alone as deputy chief minister. Now Dushyant is in great trouble that if he goes with BJP then he will loose his following and public base on the other hand if he leaves the BJP government, then his party will be divided. Therefore he is supporting the farmers Bill at present.
KAMAL NATH FOCUSES ON PRIDE OF MADHYA PRADESH IN HIS BY-POLLS CAMPAIGN
The Congress has made the betrayal factor its main plank in the Madhya Pradesh by-elections for 28 assembly seats but the former chief minister Kamal Nath has added an emotional angle to the campaign by saying that the prestige of the state was lowered by the developments that toppled his government. Mr. Nath also accused the BJP of coming to power in the State through “notes” (money). Talking to reporters in Gwalior, the home turf of Congress-turned-BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mr. Nath said, “We don’t want a certificate from (Chief Minister) Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the BJP. People are the witness (of our 15- month-rule),” Mr. Nath said. “How dare the BJP ask for a 15-month account from me? They are not giving account of the BJP’s 15 years of rule. They should first give their account,” he said. Although it is impossible for the Congress to claw it’s way back to power now, the party is relying on the people’s sense of pride in order to stay afloat. The Congress will come back into the reckoning only if it wins at least 20 seats, while BJP has an easier task of winning only nine seats to save the government that it stole in March with the help of Jyotiraditya Scindia.
OPPOSITION PARTIES IN BIHAR RECONCILED TO ASSEMBLY POLLS DURING THE PERIOD OF COVID
The opposition parties in Bihar, RJD, Congress along with other smaller parties are in a dilemma over approaching the Election Commission for postponing the assembly elections. The union education ministry has compelled them to think again as the successful completion of NEET and JEE examination was s recently held. The opposition parties with students, parents and some section of state government had opposed NEET and JEE examination in the Covid-19 period. Supreme Court finally ruled that the exam need not be postponed. Over 15 lakh students appeared for NEET on a single day and nearly 9 lakh students appeared in JEE in a span of a week. The Bihar Assembly election is far greater in magnitude. According to election commission data, there are over 7,19,81,354 voters registered in Bihar for 2020 and election commission will setup 1,06526 polling stations to ensure social distancing. Considering the limitation of campaign in the times of Covid-19 crises, many political parties still have asked election commission to consider deferring the polls. The principal opposition party in Bihar the RJD has questioned the need for holding the election amid the pandemic. (IPA)
