LUCKNOW: Is BJP unhappy with former chief minister and BSP national president Mayawati’s decision relating to induction of her nephew Akash Anand back in party fold? The manner in which security cover of Y plus of Akash Anand was removed within 24 hours of Mayawati’s decision to take him back in party is an indication.
Under security cover, young Akash Anand was given Y category security which gave him 8-10 CRPF jawans round the clock on the duty to protect him. It would be worth mentioning here that Akash Anand was inducted in the party during 2019 Lok Sabha polls and was made national coordinator and was declared as political heir of Mayawati.
After assuming the charge, Akash Anand started addressing the public meeting and became very popular with the masses. He also gave his input to strengthen the organisation. He developed good rapport with the party leaders and cadres.
Akash Anand got married to daughter of powerful BSP Leader and former MP Ashok Sidharth. Mayawati also gave importance to relationship and attended the wedding. During 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Akash Anand launched attack on BJP in his meetings and he was also booked by the authorities for his speech at Sitapur. Mayawati was shocked by the anti-BJP mood of her nephew and the manner he was booked by the authorities.
Shocked by this development or under pressure from BJP, Mayawati immediately removed Akash Anand from the post of national coordinator and political heir as well. But after six months, Mayawati re-inducted Akash Anand and brought about changes in organisational set-up.
But this phase did not last long. Few months back Mayawati was again shocked by the tweet of Akash Anand. Within no time she removed Akash Anand and his father-in-law Ashok Sidharth. Mayawati was so upset with Akash Anand that Mayawati publicly said that he was under the influence of his father-in-law and she would not compromise on the issue of welfare of Bahujan Samaj Party.
BSP national president Mayawati appointed her brother already holding the charge of Vice-president as national coordinator. But he surprised his sister by expressing his inability to to take up the assignment. Mayawati had no option but to appoint somebody else.
Two days before the Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, Akash Anand publicly apologized through tweet for his conduct and assured Mayawati that he would follow her only not his in-laws and devote his life for Bahujan Samaj and the party.
Next day as per the understanding, BSP national president Mayawati re-inducted Akash Anand in the party but no position has been given as of now. But withdrawal of security cover of Akash Anand within 24 hours of joining back the party has shocked the party and political analysts as well.
Last few elections saw gradual decline of political fortune of BSP and erosion of vote share and leaders. Congress, Samajwadi Party and BJP are working very hard to poach the vote bank of BSP which was founded by dalit thinker and reformer Kanshiram in 1984.Kashiram was instrumental in making his political heir Mayawati chief minister of UP thrice with the support of BJP.
But social engineering adopted by Mayawati surprised the nation when the party came to power in 2007 on its own. But after that, decline started with BSP losing vote share and leaders. So much so, the alliance with arch rival Samajwadi Party also miserably failed.
It was observed BSP only attacked Samajwadi Party and Congress and avoided direct attack on BJP on the issue of governance. Be it central government or state government, Mayawati was seen advising them for better governance. That is why opposition parties called BSP of as B-team of BJP.
Samajwadi Party and Congress gained in 2024 Lok Sabha polls and made significant dent in vote share of the BSP which resulted in SP emerging third largest party in Lok Sabha while the Congress to gained in terms of seats in UP. (IPA Service)
