As the Bihar Assembly election approaches, the political parties are getting busy forming the alliance with other partys. At one time, the main pillar of Dalit politics was Ram Vilas Paswan. In fact, two years back Paswan and Nitish Kumar were good friends. When Nitish left the alliance with RJD and joined hands with BJP to form the Bihar government, he inducted Paswan’s younger brother Pashupati Kumar Paras in his cabinet and made him MLC. However, when Chirag Paswan took over the command of LJP, he started criticizing Nitish Kumar and his government resulting in the relationship between Chirag and Nitish becoming sour. Nitish Kumar has made an alliance with Jitan Ram Manjhi in order to play the Maha Dalit card in the coming assembly elections. He has declared that LJP would have an alliance with BJP and BJP would accommodate LJP into their seats.
TROUBLE BREWING FOR JYOTIRADITYA SCINDIA’S RAJYA SABHA PROSPECTS
Jyotiraditya Scindia had joined the BJP with his followers thinking that he would get the Rajya Sabha seat and get a ministerial berth at the Centre and all of his followers were to be adjusted in the state cabinet. Although some of his followers were indeed inducted into the state cabinet, but Scindia himself is still waiting for a chance. Meanwhile, former minister Govind Singh has challenged the Rajya Sabha election of Jyotiraditya Scindia in the high court, saying that Scindia has not mentioned about the criminal cases against him in the nomination paper. The high court issued a notice to Scindia on 27 August and also sent notice to the Election Commission and Scindia has to reply in four weeks. Govind Singh has appealed for rejecting the Scindia Rajya Sabha election in high court. On the other hand, Scindia is also worried that the by-election to 27 seats is coming soon and it is the responsibility of Scindia to make a win of all his MLAs. Otherwise, the losers will lose their ministership in the cabinet.
BJP-KANGANA VERSUS SHIV SENA BATTLE SEES EYE-POPPING DRAMA
The BJP was initially shocked when the actor Kangana Ranaut compared Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The party wanted to stand beside Ranaut because of her pro BJP positions but could not figure out how to do so. One member of the legislative assembly from the BJP in Maharashtra even put out a statement that he does not agree with Ranaut comparing Mumbai to POK. After a brief, members of the central leadership jumped to Ranaut’s defence, without, however, referring to her comment equating Mumbai to PoK. The BJP general secretary (organisation) B L Santosh in a tweet has said: “When you tell you feel unsafe in India you are a celebrity.” Referring indirectly to Aamir Khan’s comment in the past. “If you tell Mumbai is unsafe you are bounded day in & day out. These Double Standards has discredited the left liberal ecosystem,” Santosh added. He and some other BJP leaders also criticized the Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray for trying to deflect attention from the state government’s failure to tackle the coronavirus by targeting individuals. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena and Congress have alleged that the BJP IT cell is behind Ranaut’s Twitter account and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has been heard telling her to use her own Twitter handle and not make posts through the IT cell of a political outfit. Raut even asked her not to return to Mumbai if she had no faith in the city police.
