Haryana’s Cabinet Minister Anil Vij has cast serious allegations at members of his own party, asserting that some individuals in Ambala Cantonment are operating a “parallel BJP” with support from senior leadership. He invoked concern over perceived internal disruption, urging constituents and party workers on social media to suggest measures, saying, “the party is suffering a lot of damage.”
The point of contention involves claims that these members, allegedly with backing from higher-ups, have been acting in ways that conflict with the party’s formal directives. Vij invited feedback via the comment section of his post on X, asking how to address those he describes as detractors.
Key figures in the dispute include Ashish Tayal, former BJP district treasurer, who has been linked in social media posts with Chief Minister Nayab Saini. Observers interpret such connections as evidence of factionalism.
Vij has previously raised complaints of betrayal during the 2024 Assembly elections. He alleged that certain party members, thought to be close to leadership, supported or campaigned for Chitra Sarwara, an independent candidate who challenged the BJP in Ambala Cantonment. Despite Vij winning, he contends that the influence of these internal actors undermined party unity.
Responses from those named have been varied. Tayal has said that his interactions with the chief minister are part of routine constituency concerns, especially around pressing issues like waterlogging in the industrial area of Ambala Cantonment. He denied there is a conspiracy and questioned the motivations behind Vij’s claims.
The allegations come amid local grievance over industrial losses from flooding. Several industrial units in Ambala Cantonment faced damage when the Tangri river overflowed, leading to appeals to state leadership for permanent flood relief measures.
Within party circles, the debate over whether disciplinary action, formal mediation or reassertion of organisational command is needed is growing louder. Vij’s public venting of frustration—through both social media and speeches—signals escalating tension between him and both district and state leadership.
