July 4, big day for the United States, and President Donald Trump’s “signature piece of legislation”, his ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ is on his desk in the ‘Oval’ for his sprawling signature. ‘BBB’ was passed on Thursday and includes trillions of dollars in tax and spending cuts. It also ramps up funding for defense and to implement President Trump’s immigration agenda.
The Congress voted 218 to 214 to approve ‘BBB’. Two Republicans joined the Democrats in opposing the bill. ‘BBB’ was passed in the Senate earlier this week. Reports say President Trump’s cohorts believe Trump is beyond and above every other United Sates President to date. Previous President Joe Biden is unlucky he was born in America at the same time as President Trump.
Give President Trump a torch and he will do a lap of the White House perimeter. MAGA supporters are too thrilled at Trump’s triumph. It is a different thing that the White House is used to such triumphant times and wouldn’t be adding another “Wing” to mark Trump’s Triumph!
Also, there are those who believe President Trump can’t celebrate till as long as there are native Indians to remind him, people like Trump, that they’re interlopers, and illegal occupiers. Problem is President Trump doesn’t believe in “We Won”, he is through and through a “I, Me & Mine” person.
But ‘BBB’ went through the hoop clean as a whistle and President Trump’s got reason to gloat at the bloated bill. That Trump will be a rampaging bull in the China Shop from henceforth to Kingdom Come is a certainty. And BBB will be hanging from the Oval Wall for Trump’s ego to swamp the globe.
Important thing is, President Trump’s got the dough now for implementing all his ideas, no-brainers as well as the ‘harebrained’. Trump is a self-admitted wheeler-dealer and likely harbours the wish to turn rubble and ruins to blood and glory. A Riviera out of bombed Gaza.
Trump doesn’t betray thoughts of the hunger pangs of the man in the queue. Trump never ever thought of removing homelessness and squalor from America’s richest cities? Trump will sign ‘BBB” at a ceremony at the White House on the July 4 holiday with plomb and aplomb. GOP leaders, even those who opposed ‘BBB’, are brushing their tuxedos.
Internal opposition was laid to rest before BBB’s final passage. Republican members who baulked will be facing the MAGA people. Does that include the world’s richest man Elon Musk? This father of 14 said ‘BBB’ should be booted out and was willing to go to war with Trump, forget deportation.
The Senate played its part in ‘BBB’ going through. GOP leaders played their part as the Opposition settled for a final showdown. One Democrat spoke for 8 hours and 44 minutes. For sheer ugly talkativeness and rhetoric, this man made crows eat crow and still managed to lose!
‘BBB’ would add $3.4 trillion to federal deficits over the next 10 years. Millions will live and die without health insurance. There will be cuts to Medicaid and to programmes linked to the Affordable Care Act. Funds for immigration enforcement drives will never lag for lack of funds. President Trump’s immigration methods will keep “illegal aliens” forever scared and running out of sanctuary-cities.
President Trump used Truth Social to keep up the pressure on anti-BBB Republicans, telling them, “FOR REPUBLICANS, THIS SHOULD BE AN EASY YES VOTE. RIDICULOUS!!!”, and “What are the Republicans waiting for??? What are you trying to prove??? MAGA IS NOT HAPPY, AND IT’S COSTING YOU VOTES!!!” That proved to be the last straw on the camel’s back and BBB cut through opposition like a knife on butter.
The rival Democratic Party fought bitterly both in the Senate and the House of Representatives to defeat Trump’s BBB. The Democrats are saying that the common Americans are angry with Trump at the denial of many existing facilities in the Bill and this will have impact in the midterm elections in November 2026. It is to be seen whether Trump turns out more authoritarian after his latest win or he reforms himself before his next poll battle with the Democratic Party at the national level. (IPA Service)
