Congress President Sonia Gandhi last week left for her annual medical checkup abroad, a day after she carried out a reshuffle of the organisation. There was a strong demand from Congress leaders both old and young that the 23 members who wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi about the drift in the party should be punished. However the top leadership not only refused to act vindictive against them but it also ensured they are represented in every important decision of the party. The most significant is the inclusion of Arvind Singh Lovely one of the signatories to that infamous letter, in the party’s central election committee. This is the body that will conduct internal elections to the post of party president and working committee and Arvind Singh Lovely’s presence will ensure the dissident group is aware of the processes and violation. The six member committee formed to assist Sonia Gandhi includes Mukul Wasnik, one of the signatories to the letter; the top policy making body Congress working committee (CWC) has three members from the group include Mukul Wasnik, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma. The communication department has Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma while Jitin Prasada is in the incharge category. According to Senior Congress sources that Azad has been requesting Sonia to be relieved of the general secretary assignment for years. Other old leaders like Motilal Vohra, Ambika Soni and Mallikarjun Kharge too have been relieved from their job.
AKALI DAL WILL CONTINUE SUPPORTING NDA GOVERNMENT AT CENTRE DESPITE RESIGNATION OF HARSIMRAT BADAL
Union food processing minister and Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Thursday resigned from the Cabinet in protest against the farmers’ related Bills the government has brought in. Harsimrat Badal walked out of Lok Sabha when the House was taking up discussion on the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, that the NDA government has proposed in Parliament during the ongoing monsoon session, replacing the ordinances issued by it earlier. Later, in protest against the Bills — which have brought the state of Punjab on the boil with farmer’s organisations up in arms, Harsimrat Kaur Badal submitted her resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Her husband and party chief Sukhbir Badal said the Akalis will continue to support the government from outside but oppose the “anti-farmer politics”.
NITISK KUMAR REFUSES TO ALLOT SEATS TO CHIRAG PASWAN’S LJP FROM JD(U) QUOTA
As the Bihar Assembly election is coming closer, the political parties started arranging their own house and alignment with parties and groups. On September 12, National BJP President JP Nadda interacted with Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar along with Bihar election incharge Bhupinder Yadav and Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and discussed about the seat sharing between BJP and JD(U). According to sources, CM Nitish has shown his displeasure at the statement made by LJP President Chirag Paswan during his meeting with Nadda. On the other hand LJP which was not a part in this meeting has said that the party wants a respectable accommodation. In 2015, in the house of 243, BJP contested 157 seats, LJP 42 seats, Jitin Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha 21seats while JD(U)and RJD contested together on 101 seat each and Congress on 41 seats. Now Nitish does not want to leave any seat for LJP and according to sources, Nitish has told JP Nadda to accommodate LJP from their own sharing seats. Meanwhile Pappu Yadav and Chirag Paswan have become active to make some alignment. According to political observers it may possibly be that LJP will not ally with JD(U) but remain in alliance with BJP and LJP candidates will fight against JD(U) candidates so that Nitish Kumar could not get more seats than BJP.

The NCP Chief Sharad Pawar came to the aid of the Shiv Sena chief minister Uddhav Thackeray at the right time .He advised the CM to go slow and not to make the demolition of Kangana Ranaut’s office a major issue now. The reason is that there are many illegal constructions which have taken place not only in Mumbai but also in other big cities like Pune and Nagpur. All political parties- be it the Nationalist Congress Party, Congress party or the BJP and Shiv Sena will come under scrutiny. Although the Shiv Sena cadres were livid. Pawar tutored the CM Uddhav Thackeray on political warfare which has to be fought with the cool mind and common sense. (IPA)
