Aravind Limbavali, a former Member of Legislative Assembly from Mahadevapura, has sharply rebuked the Congress party’s accusations against the ruling government following the opposition-led rally against the ‘Votechor’ in Bengaluru. Limbavali, reacting to remarks made by Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, urged the Congress to conduct its due diligence and perform proper fieldwork before making unfounded allegations.
The controversy erupted after Congress leaders, led by Gandhi, launched a protest against what they described as “vote theft” and manipulation during elections. In response, Limbavali, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleged that the Congress’s claims were baseless and aimed at deflecting attention from their own inconsistencies.
Limbavali, who represented Mahadevapura in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, pointed to documents he had gathered, which, according to him, exposed similar discrepancies in other constituencies governed by Congress. Notably, he highlighted the Varuna constituency, which is represented by none other than Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The former MLA suggested that Congress should focus more on addressing its internal issues rather than levelling accusations against the BJP. Limbavali’s argument was grounded in the idea that all political parties have faced similar allegations at one point or another, but they must confront such claims with proper evidence and transparency.
Limbavali’s remarks came after a Congress rally where leaders claimed that the BJP had resorted to unethical tactics in securing votes during the elections. He emphasized that these accusations lacked substance and could not be substantiated by credible evidence. To further drive his point home, Limbavali released official documents he argued demonstrated flaws within Congress’s own electoral strategies.
The Varuna constituency, which was at the heart of Limbavali’s argument, has been a focal point for political battles in Karnataka. Siddaramaiah’s leadership in the region has been controversial, and Limbavali pointed out that such discrepancies were equally prevalent in constituencies held by Congress as they were in areas under BJP control. He questioned why the opposition party had not conducted a thorough investigation into these alleged discrepancies within their own ranks before accusing others of election-related malpractices.
Limbavali’s response is seen as part of the ongoing political tug-of-war between the BJP and Congress in Karnataka. Both parties have been at odds over various issues, ranging from governance to accusations of corruption and election manipulation. The BJP has long accused the Congress of resorting to divisive and unfounded political strategies in its quest for power.
Karnataka, a politically volatile state, is no stranger to intense electoral battles, and Limbavali’s comments are likely to fuel the fire of political discourse. The BJP has consistently defended its electoral strategies and dismissed Congress claims as politically motivated. On the other hand, Congress is using the allegations as a platform to rally against what they perceive as the growing influence of the BJP’s tactics to manipulate voter sentiments.
Amid this heated exchange, the residents of Karnataka, who have been accustomed to the sharp political rivalry between the two major parties, are expected to remain divided in their views. Some will likely side with Limbavali’s assertions, while others will continue to support Congress’s accusations of electoral malpractices.
