Farmers, call at Muzaffarnagar panchayat to defeat BJP in Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand has also caused party leadership to draw strategy to counter the agitation of farmers.
It would be worth mentioning here that communal polarisation following riots in Muzaffarnagar helped BJP tremendously in 2017 assembly and 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Although BJP tried to underplay the kisan mahapanchayat by terming it as election meeting but it’s leadership could see the danger of jat-muslim unity which was quite evident when slogans were raised from the dias..
BJP hopes to regain the support of farmers especially in western UP by holding massive farmer outreach programmes during next few months.
BJP has termed the outreach programme as Kisan Samwad to establish direct contact with farmers.
BJP Kisan Morcha has been entrusted with the task of organising Kisan Samwad in the state.
More than 100 assembly constituencies have been identified in UP where farmers play important role in deciding the fate of candidates. According to BJP Kisan Morcha officials, a team of 40 leaders including ministers would visit these constituencies with details of government works and its approach.
As per the strategy, these leaders would visit constituencies and hold discussions with farmers. They would also listen to farmers regarding their issues and concerns.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also announced programmes to blunt the impact of ongoing agitation of farmers.
Recently Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath annouced withdrawal of cases related to stubble burning and OTS for interest waiver for interest on electricity bills which would benefit farmers of western UP. BJP hopes to gain with these measures.
Significantly enough CM Yogi Adityanath annouced in UP Assembly that Rs One lakh crore was paid to farmers towards sugarcane arrears in last four years.
