The Congress party on Friday finally put an end to the weeks of speculation over the key Lok Sabha seats of Amethi and Raebareli by picking Rahul Gandhi to represent the latter. After filing his nomination, Gandhi referred to Raebareli as his “family’s Karmabhoomi.”
In his first reaction after the nomination, the former Congress chief, who has been facing constant digs from the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, said that filing the nomination in the presence of his family was a sentimental moment for him and the Gandhi family.

“Nomination from Raebareli was an emotional moment for me! My mother has entrusted me with the responsibility of the family’s workplace with great confidence and given me the opportunity to serve it,” Gandhi wrote in an X post after submitting his papers.
About Amethi, a constituency which he represented until 2019, Rahul said that Rae Bareli and Amethi hold equal importance to him and expressed satisfaction over Kishori Lal being nominated for the Amethi seat.
“Amethi and Rae Bareli are not different for me, both are my family and I am happy that Kishori Lal ji, who has been serving the area for 40 years, will represent the party from Amethi. I am confident that all of you stand with me in this fight to save the Constitution and democracy,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi on Friday filed his nomination papers from the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat, a constituency held by his mother Sonia Gandhi for the last two decades. He was accompanied by Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
On the other hand, Congress loyalist K L Sharma filed his nomination from Amethi Lok Sabha seat, which has been a stronghold of the Congress party.
