The whole thing about Trump’s tariffs bringing all sorts of Indians on to the same platter is a chimera, a lie told in the flush of the moment; in times of adversity when people comfort themselves with dreams and lies, which is what has happened and a feeling of all things are hunky-dory has taken hold.
Trump’s 50% tariff on Indian exports are already leaving its ill-effects. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a Trump puppet, dancing unknowingly and unwittingly to Trump’s tariff-tunes. As for government-opposition unity, that one is for the birds and the bees.
It is foolish to expect the Opposition to let go an opportunity to push the government of the day over the brink and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is not squeamish about using everything that comes to hand including Trump’s tariffs.
Weaponizing Trump’s “unjust tariffs” is both easier said and easier done. Rahul Gandhi in his elements as he plans the assassination of the Modi government.
The other day, he scored a Hiroshima and followed it up with Nagasaki after his promise of several days that he would be testing a nuke on August 7 and only god can save the Modi government! Gandhi released a video on ‘X’ adding to his allegation that the Election Commission (EC) and the BJP had “colluded to steal votes”.
Rahul Gandhi’s broadside against the Election Commission and the Bharatiya Janata Party set the mind registers ringing across the length and breadth of the public and political spectrum, proof that the unity spoken about was a lie to the power of 140 billion.
People, notably voters, now have a grievance to mash teeth on. The country is divided, the people are divided, and the BJP and the Congress haven’t learned anything from recent events. If Operation Sindoor couldn’t unite, what else could?
Not even in the face of the enemy is there unity, the political forces arrayed against each other and have refused to come to terms with their differences.
Rahul Gandhi has charged the Election Commission with the grave accusation of “treason” and has alleged that BJP hanky-panky and BJP-EC collusion happened not only in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Haryana but also in Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh as well.
It took Rahul Gandhi “six months” to get hold of the dirt on the EC and BJP, to pillory and plaster the Election Commission mug on the wanted list, but he did get hold of the “evidence” and Rahul Gandhi has claimed that the BJP is guilty of betraying the trust of people of India.
There is egg on the BJP’s face and the Election Commission hasn’t a hole to hide. Also, the unity spoken of in the wake of Trump’s elaborate web of punitive tariffs has exploded in Modi’s face. Have Indians really come together in this hour of President Trump’s terrifying tariffs?
Rahul Gandhi would be no “patriot Hindustani” if he didn’t take the cue from the “USA-first” President Trump. In fact, the LoP missed a lollypop. The Leader of the Opposition should have formed INDIA bloc delegations and sent them to countries across the world to drum up support for India against Trump!
There is disunity among “Indians” both in India and abroad, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen as unassailable. Both green card-holding non-resident Indians and “American Indians” are on the same page against the Modi government, urging Modi to let go the ego and “call President Trump up, now!”.
The interests of these people are at variance with that of the Modi government. They want to be true to their adopted country. Even Indian students in USA varsities are all for “justice to the USA” and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeing an opportunity in Trump’s escalating tariffs.
Modi has, from being on the wrong side of the farmers, come around to label himself as the last of the “farmer-saviours”! Also the saviour of dairy farmers, assorted cattle including holy cows, goatherds and the “machuara people”, leaving no segment of the Indian population out.
The three farm laws were branded “black laws” by farmers and Modi had to withdraw them with an apology that ran from Jhansi to all corners of India. Today, Modi says he will stand firm, like the Statue of Unity, for “India’s farmers” and dairies.
But has Rahul’s allegations against the Election Commission done the opposite and justified the use of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar? By Rahul Gandhi’s token and allegations shouldn’t all of India have a date with SIR?
The Bihar assembly elections are slated for October-November and over 65 lakh voters have been erased from the voters’ list, which is somewhat akin to Rahul’s charge against the EC and the BJP.
What happens now, after Rahul Gandhi’s expose? The Gandhi family scion and wannabe Prime Minister has warned Election Commission officials that no matter which hole they hide in, they will be pulled out and dealt with once power shifts to Congress hands.
It can’t be an empty threat, the Leader of Opposition has the pedigree to follow-up with impunity. Fact is, nothing that is unfolding is about unity in the face of adversity. The enemy is at the gates but nobody is bothered.
Prime Minister Modi is shopping for himself, positioning himself as a national hero, willing to make a “personal sacrifice” for the sake of India’s farmers. And the LoP, who is equally self-righteous as he punches holes in the Prime Minister’s hide with alleged trumped-up charges.
“Vote chori is not just an electoral scam, it is a major betrayal committed against the Constitution and democracy. Let the nation’s culprits hear this: times will change, punishment will surely be meted out,” Rahul Gandhi posted on ‘X’ the day after he nuked the BJP/Modi government. (IPA Service)
