Chennai:
Tamil Nadu for the second consecutive day today recorded over 10,000 cases of coronavirus with 10,941 fresh infections in 24 hours with 44 deaths. State capital Chennai logged 3,347 cases in one day.
The state’s overall tally of coronavirus cases has now crossed 10 lakh.
1,09,533 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 6,172 patients were discharged – two per cent more than on Monday.
The districts which recorded the highest single-day spike include Chengalpattu (970), Coimbatore (735), Erode (248), Kancheepuram (240), Salem (359), Madurai (328), Thoothukudi (288), Thiruvallur (535), Tirupur (296), Trichy (303), Nellai (286) and Virudhnagar (116).
Tamil Nadu’s overall infection tally now stands at 10,02,392 with 13,157 deaths. The active caseload of the state is 75,116.
