A man from Rampur, identified as Shahzad, has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad in Moradabad on allegations of espionage for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence . The arrest follows an investigation into his purported involvement in cross-border smuggling and anti-national activities.
According to officials, Shahzad had been under surveillance due to suspicions of facilitating the illegal movement of individuals across the India-Pakistan border and supplying Pakistani agents with Indian SIM cards. These actions are believed to have supported the establishment of a covert intelligence network within India. Authorities are currently interrogating Shahzad to uncover the extent of his operations and identify any accomplices involved in the network.
This arrest is part of a broader initiative by Indian intelligence and counter-terrorism agencies to dismantle espionage activities linked to foreign intelligence services. The ATS has intensified efforts to identify and apprehend individuals collaborating with external entities to compromise national security.
