Jaipur: BJP state in-charge Radha Mohan Das Agrawal walked out of the party’s state-level workshop at Jaipur’s Durgapura Agricultural Research Centre after expressing extreme displeasure over poor attendance by MPs, MLAs and other party functionaries. The event, part of the “Seva Pakhwara” campaign, aimed to mobilise workers for public service drives tied to upcoming birth anniversaries of key leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Agrawal, who was expected to preside over the second session of the meeting along with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, left before Sharma’s arrival, ignoring appeals from Home Minister Jawahar Singh Bedam to stay and carry on. He told party president Madan Rathore to issue showcause notices to those absent without valid reasons and demanded written explanations. Agrawal reportedly warned that those unwilling to engage in party work should be removed.
Of Rajasthan’s 14 BJP MPs, only five were present; among 118 MLAs, 72 attended. Eight out of eleven Lok Sabha candidates showed up. Among aspirants for legislative assembly seats, only 42 of the total 82 appeared. Several district presidents and local party officials were also missing. Agrawal’s criticism was sharp: he said the absentees were harming the party’s image and undermining its readiness for upcoming campaigns.
Seva Pakhwara is a fortnight-long initiative that aligns with dates significant in BJP’s ideological narrative — including the birth anniversaries of Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri alongside PM Modi’s birthday. Activities include cleanliness drives, health camps, blood donations and tree plantation at grassroots level.
Within party circles, Agrawal’s response is seen as a signal that discipline and accountability are priorities ahead of the 2025–26 electoral push. Several local leaders privately admitted that scheduling conflicts and low morale may have led to the low turnout, while critics view the episode as evidence of organisational weakness.
