CHANDIGARH: Punjab unit of CPI has declared to contest more than twenty seats in Punjab elections, if Samyukat Samaj Morcha leadership does not listen to Left’s concerns and goes on cornering the left forces which determinedly fought in recent peasant struggle.
Addressing a press conference at Bathinda, state Secretary Com. Bant Singh Brar and National Council members Com. Hardev Arshi Ex. MLA and Com. Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, said that though SSM leadership has broken the understanding of allotting 9 seats to CPI (and has declared only six and has unilaterally allotted the remaining three seats to non-deserving persons), we are not in favour of breaking SSM, but want to strengthen it with forces committed to peasants and working people struggles. We will still negotiate with them.
They said that CPI is a national political party, only three years away from its birth centenary, with history of sacrifices in freedom struggle and for peoples cause, we will fight elections on our party symbol, as we had always been fighting. They accused some main leaders of SMS following undemocratic and autocratic methods and not caring for interests of SMS which has grown from glorious one year struggle of farmers at Delhi borders facing many hardships that has taken more than seven hundred lives.
They circulated list of 15 seats and names of candidates from there and said that more will be declared in few days if SMS does not accommodate their genuine demands and not fulfil the earlier agreement made on 20th January in meeting of SMS held at Issru Bhawan Ludhiana. The circulated list includes: 1. Jalalabad – Surinder Singh Dhandian, 2. Nihal Singhwala – Guranditta Singh, 3. Malout – Sukhwinder Kumar, 4. Budhlada – Karishan Chuhan, 5. Lehragaga – Satwant Singh Khandebad, 6. Amritsar West – Amarjit Singh Aasal, 7. Jagraon – Gurmel Singh Mendley, 8. Sultanpur Lodhi – Adv. Rajinder Singh Rana, 9. Payal – Bhagwan Singh, 10. Nabha – Kashmir Singh Gadai, 11. Zira – Kashmir Singh, 12. Chabbewal – Sunil Datt Chak Kataru, 13. Sri Hargobindpur – Santokh Singh Sanghera, 14. Pathankot – Satyadev Saini, 15. Khadoor Sahib – Gurdial Singh. Apart from these, CPI will contest from Banga, Fazilka, Mehal Kalan, Sangrur, Bathinda Rural, Attari and others from where the party comrades are pressing hard to contest.
They said that CPI will try to unite left forces and will not contest against them. CPI is fighting elections on issues and against corrupt, communal, pro-corporate, anti-federal, anti-minorities policies of BJP, and against Congress, Akali and AAP and on burning issues like Unemployment, Education, Health, Defence of Public Sector, TU Rights, etc.
Concluding, Com. Brar said that we are not going out of SSM, rather try to make it more stronger and cohesive, it is up to SSM leadership whether they want to strengthen this new formed alliance or force honest, committed allies out, as already CPI(ML)Liberation has already gone out. (IPA Service)
