NEW DELHI: In a landmark initiative reflecting its unwavering commitment to the welfare of India’s armed forces personnel, BSES, in collaboration with the Army Welfare Placement Office (AWPO) has launched a transformative drone pilot training and placement program. This pioneering initiative is designed to empower ex-servicemen, those retiring within six months and Veer Naaris with cutting-edge skills, opening doors to rewarding careers in the rapidly expanding drone sector.
Recognising the immense potential of this high-growth industry and the unique challenges faced by veterans transitioning to civilian life, this program aims to bridge the gap between military service and civilian employment through comprehensive, industry-specific training and robust placement support.
The drone pilot training and placement program is a forward-looking initiative designed to equip 250 veterans and 50 Veer Naaris over a three-year period with specialised drone operation skills. This program opens pathways to careers in agriculture, infrastructure development, security, logistics, and more within the burgeoning drone industry.
Being conducted in small, focused batches of around 20 participants, the program offers an intensive 14-day curriculum covering both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience. Trainees will gain expertise in flight operations, payload management, data analysis, and regulatory compliance, using advanced drone models such as White Hawk, Spidex, Nakshay, and Bhiman. Certified instructors from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will deliver the training, culminating in the awarding of the mandatory Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) for commercial drone operations in India.
Moreover, entrepreneurship support is embedded within the program, offering specialized sessions on setting up drone-based businesses, regulatory compliance, and business development. Participants will benefit from offline internships, enhancing real-world readiness, with job opportunities. The initiative is being coordinated by NGO partner ‘Sahayog care for You’.
