The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been quite careful in expressing its support and appreciation for Operation Sindoor as it has enhanced nation’s self respect and morale. Four days back before announcement of ceasefire ,the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had condemned “the attacks being carried out by the Pakistani army on religious places and civilian settlement areas on the border of Bharat” he had lauded Operation Sindoor and said the attacks inside Pakistan were inevitable for India’s security.
But Bhagwat has been maintaining a stoic silence on US President Donald Trump unilaterally announcing the ceasefire. He preferred to skip the issue of Trump denying Modi, the right to announce this nature of sensitive and important issue which has been close to the heart of Indians. Bhagwat congratulated “the central government leadership and our armed forces for the decisive action ‘Operation Sindoor’ taken against Pak-sponsored terrorists and their supporting ecosystem following the cowardly attack on unarmed tourists at Pahalgam. This action to serve justice to aggrieved families and the entire country in the brutal massacre of Hindu tourists has enhanced the self-respect and morale of the whole country,”
Bhagwat appreciating Modi government notwithstanding, his running feud with later certainly has not come as surprise. But the people, especially the RSS cadres and saffron ecosystem expected a clear message from him on the issue of Trump snatching the opportunity, which is being construed as demeaning the country and Modi. While Bhagwat had termed the action against Pakistan as “necessary”, he had also said, “In this hour of national crisis, the entire country stands with the government and armed forces in spirit and action”.
But now it appears that Modi has also not taken RSS chief into confidence about the ceasefire. This has happened in the backdrop of Bhagwat calling upon the people of the country “to abide by the instructions of the government. while discharging our sacred civic duty, we all have to be cautious and not let any conspiracy by anti-national forces succeed in disrupting social unity and harmony”.
Quite significantly only one day ahead of the announcement of ceasefire, Mohan Bhagwat and general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, had hailed Operation Sindoor, “initiated by the India armed forces against Pakistan-sponsored terrorists”. They had said it had become “necessary and inevitable” and the action “to serve justice to aggrieved families and entire country in the brutal massacre of Hindu tourists has enhanced self-respect and morale the whole country.” Since the US President Donald Trump abruptly announced the ceasefire, RSS is yet to come out with the statement endorsing this action.
While the India-Pakistan ceasefire has been giving Modi supporters heartburn, and nurse the hurt feeling, that their strongman could not take the credit for ceasefire, the RSS leadership is maintaining a stoic silence on this issue. Discussions have started whether the Objective of destroying terror camps has succeeded. (IPA Service)
