India has launched missile and drone strikes on three Pakistani airbases—Nur Khan near Rawalpindi, Murid in Chakwal, and Rafiqui in Jhang—in retaliation for drone attacks on Indian border cities. The Indian military employed air-to-surface missiles and drones in the operation, reportedly causing damage to Pakistani air assets. Pakistan, however, claims to have intercepted most of the missiles and denies any significant losses.
The escalation follows a deadly attack on April 22 in Indian-administered Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed. India attributes the attack to Pakistan-based militants, an allegation Pakistan denies. In response, India initiated “Operation Sindoor,” targeting alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. Pakistan retaliated with its own operation, “Bunyan-un-Marsoos,” launching missile strikes on Indian military facilities.
Both nations have reported casualties and damage from the ongoing exchanges. India claims to have neutralized several terrorist camps, while Pakistan reports civilian casualties from Indian strikes. The conflict has led to the suspension of civilian flights and heightened military alertness on both sides.
