After Nitesh Kumar reiterated that the flip-flops of the past were a mistake and vowed to remain with the NDA forever, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav took a jibe at the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging that he has been to him with folded hands twice. Tejashwi said that Nitish Kumar’s credibility and influence in state politics both are on verge of an end. Tejashwi Yadav also said that his party would not repeat the mistake to revive him again. Meanwhile, RJD chief Lalu Prasad has said on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s possible return to the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance): “If he doesn’t want to come to ‘this side’, let it be… it is good.” Tejashwi Yadav has started his Karyakarta Samvad Yatra (workers’ dialogue journey) from Samastipur and would travel all across the state. He intends to inform people of the achievements made during his 17 months as Deputy Chief Minister in the previous Mahagathbandhan government.
Maratha Reservation, VBA To Play Key Roles In Maharashtra Elections
With the Maharashtra assembly elections approaching, Maratha leader from Marathwada, Manoj Jarange-Patil, has threatened to initiate agitation once again from September 16. Two Ministers of the government have recently held discussions with him, but he has reiterated his resolve for a stir. Maratha reservation issue had played a prominent role in the Lok Sabha elections. On the other hand, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) leader Prakash Ambedkar held a press conference to announce that the alliance of Dalits, OBCs and Adivasis would lead the political transformation in Maharashtra, and that the Adivasis would not act to the tunes of either Congress or the BJP. AAP is hopeful of joining hands with the MVA for the assembly poll, though an alliance with the Congress did not materialise in Haryana. Its members aspire that they would get to contest a few seats as the opposition would continue to stay united against the BJP-led alliance.
Ahead Of Assembly Polls, Congress-AAP Alliance Talks Fail In Haryana
Disagreement over the choice of seats and reservation from state Congress leaders, including former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has caused the collapse of Congress-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alliance talks in Haryana. However, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is keen to carry forward the I.N.D.I.A. experiment to states by conceding some space to potential allies. Congress sources say the AAP’s insistence on deciding which seats it would like to contest was the tipping point. When the talks had first commenced, the AAP demanded 15-20 seats as part of the alliance, while the Congress was not willing to concede more than 5 seats. While AAP was keen for seats such as Jind and Pehowa, the Congress was not willing to concede.
RLD Stays Away From Haryana Polls, But Will Contest In J&K, Jharkhand
The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) will contest assembly elections of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). RLD also plans to get into the fray in Jharkhand and Maharashtra, where elections are likely to be held by the end of the year. Curiously, the RLD will not contest any seat in Haryana despite its sizable Jat population. This decision of RLD chief and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary has shocked the party and many observers of Indian politics. According to sources, RLD had demanded two seats from the BJP in Haryana. But BJP leadership refused to share even a single seat with RLD. Moreover, it asked RLD to refrain from Haryana, which the latter accepted.
Akhilesh: Yogi Government’s ‘Fake Encounter Killings’ Target PDA
In the face of the upcoming assembly by-polls in ten seats in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav continued hurling charged allegations against the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, terming the killing of crime-accused persons in gunfights with police as “fake encounters”. He also shared data on “fake encounter killings”, claiming that 60 per cent of those killed in gunfights with the police belonged to the PDA — a combine of ‘Pichde, Dalit and Alpsankhyak’ communities (backwards, Dalits and minorities). Akhilesh Yadav said no development work has been done in Uttar Pradesh during the BJP rule of more than seven years. “The people of Uttar Pradesh will wipe out the BJP in the 2027 assembly elections and BJP will not be able to stand in front of the strength of Samajwadi Party’s PDA,” he added.
