Reliance Jio may soon launch Jio Fiber fixed line broadband services in India. Since September 2016 the new service is in testing mode in select cities.
Named as fibre-to-the-home (FTTH), it is learned the Jio Fiber has come up with initial plan offering up to 1.1TB of data though the commercial launch is yet away for later this year.
Last July Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said the Jio Fiber launch was on track.
Sources say the Jio Fiber’s initial offering includes 100GB of free data per month at 100Mbps speed and a top-up is made available of 40GB for 25 times a month.
Initially the Jio Fiber connection may be made available with an interest-free security refundable deposit of Rs 4,500. The Jio router will come with features of set-top box too. This could enable TV channels via IPTV services, which is yet not rolled out in the country.
As of now Reliance has over three lakh kilometers of optic fibre network in India and so faster rollout of the commercial release of Jio Fiber could be possible.
