Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav while addressing the Lok Sabha on Tuesday said, “For the first time, it feels like a defeated government is in power.”
“I want to thank all the voters who prevented democracy from turning into autocracy,” Yadav stated.
A day after the newly-appointed leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing its leaders of dividing people along communal lines, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to speak in the Lower House of Parliament today.
PM Modi, Amit Shah and other top BJP leaders reached the Parliament early to attend a key NDA meeting. The Prime Minister is expected to make a point-by-point rebuttal to Rahul Gandhi’s speech. While attending the meeting, the PM also mentioned that NDA MPs should “focus on serving people of the country”.
Prime Minister Modi will speak in reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in the Lok Sabha.
Gandhi’s fiery speech during Monday’s debate on the Motion of Thanks for the president’s address to a joint sitting of Parliament sparked significant protests from the treasury benches.
During Gandhi’s speech, PM Modi even intervened twice, and at least five cabinet ministers interjected during his hour and 40-minute speech, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding an apology from the Congress leader.
